The Beginning

Sanada Maitreya's Sony Music catalogue was long out of print or never released on vinyl. Our request was the start of the development of the Juvenilia box set.

Two years ago, we requested three albums by Sananda Maitreya from Sony Music UK, since these were hard to find or in the case of ‘Vibrator’, had never been released on vinyl. Sony gave their approval, but they kindly asking us to work with his manager and wife Francesca.

We also needed to change all the existing artwork, as he decided to change his name 25 years ago, known globally by his stage name Terence Trent D’Arby.

Francesca came all the way over from Milan to Haarlem to "test the water" with Music On Vinyl. We took her on a tour at Record Industry, discussed our ideas and instantly clicked. 

It was the start of an fruitful cooperation, eventually planning a deluxe box set, including all of his Columbia albums spawning the Columbia Years (1987-1995). We pitched this idea to Sony Music UK, who were very helpful. They allowed us to include the classic, multi-platinum album “Introducing The Hardline” and granted us worldwide rights as well.

Sananda was involved in every step of the process. He sent us the original masters, allowing an extensive remastering in our Artone Studio. The EQ masters and test pressings were promptly approved by Sananda., and wrote brand new liner notes for each separate album. We also got in touch with his original photographers to provide high-quality images.
